This is an art project that students could do to introduce themselves to the class. On the footprint there was to be three different mediums (markers, magazines, pictures, etc.).The students could take it home and have their parents help them to get creative. My footprint includes a farm because I grew up on a farm. A blue crayon because it is my favorite color. My family is on the bottom, and my three favorite foods. I love the Vikings, and Duke. Another thing included is sports because I love to play and coach. The sun is for Summer my favorite season and the 4th of July is my favorite holiday. Some other examples of getting to know your students is to have them get a big poster board and have them draw their family and things that represent them. This way you get to know their background and family members. You could easily integrate this footprint idea with a geography lesson by assigning a student a place and they have to fill the footprint with things that represent that place.
