"Dot Day"

I think that the dot day is a very creative idea. It really shows students that even if they don't think that they are very artistic and can't draw that they can still be an artist. Using the dot day in the classroom would be a great thing to experiment with the students. I think that they would love it, and everyone can do their own thing. The dot day students are encouraged to be creative and do whatever they want to. I felt like I could relate to the dot day because I dont think that I am a very good artist.

An extension project you could do would be to give students different types of paper and have them fill the paper however they wanted to with dots for dots day. You could also have just a big sheet of paper and have the students create their own dots and then in the middle they can all work together to create a big masterpiece of art to display around the classroom.

Elements of Art and Design Scavenger Hunt

Movement/Rhythm: This picture is an example of movement/rhythm. Movement and rhythm are described as repetition of visual movements, directing the viewer through work of art, and leading to a focal area. This picture creates a focal point because the outside is blurred and the part in the circle is clear.

Unity: This picture is an example of the element unity. Unity is described as a variety of art becoming unified in one work of art or in a collection of works. Even though the circles are all different they are all unified because of the brown outline.

Space: This picture is an example of the art element space. Space can be described as in 2-D paintings creating feeling of actual depth. Examples of this is overlapping, linear, and size difference. This picture creates that image that one flower is bigger than the other but they are actually the same size, just because on is placed closer.

Shape: This picture is an example of the art element shape. Shape is any area contained within an implied line, has 2 dimensions being length and width. Shape can also be two forms geometric and organic. This is an obvious example of a heart shape.
Texture:
This picture is an example of texture. Texture is described as being appealing to the sense of touch. Also refers to surface quality. The feel that this picture gives off is soft and fuzzy.

Footprint Art

This is an art project that students could do to introduce themselves to the class. On the footprint there was to be three different mediums (markers, magazines, pictures, etc.).The students could take it home and have their parents help them to get creative. My footprint includes a farm because I grew up on a farm. A blue crayon because it is my favorite color. My family is on the bottom, and my three favorite foods. I love the Vikings, and Duke. Another thing included is sports because I love to play and coach. The sun is for Summer my favorite season and the 4th of July is my favorite holiday. Some other examples of getting to know your students is to have them get a big poster board and have them draw their family and things that represent them. This way you get to know their background and family members. You could easily integrate this footprint idea with a geography lesson by assigning a student a place and they have to fill the footprint with things that represent that place.
